Ocean Colour Scene : Up On The Down Side

Stepping right out of Guy Ritchie's wardrobe and pinching slightly at that waistband, come Simon Fowler and his boys ready to prove that, at the very least, they are still going. Inside their minds it's still a mod, mod world, but this is one of the least mod records you'll ever hear. Mod means sharp, working-class, self-respecting, hedonistic modernity and in fact has a lot more in common with those dancing to Chocolate Puma at Cream on a Saturday night. This, by contrast, is stale and paunchy rock that still insanely considers The Jam to be the last word in pop. The game is surely up.
