Everything But The Girl : Wheat Is Murder EP

Every single person who bought that godawful EBTG record a few years back should be locked in a room and played it on rotation for eternity.

Every single person who bought that godawful EBTG record a

few years back should be locked in a room and played it on rotation for eternity. Since that dubious success, EBTG have basically released the same single over and over again and - hooray! - here it is again with the beats slightly changed, presumably to aimed at the morning-after-the-fortnight-in-Ibiza crowd. However upbeat it becomes, though, it still sounds like the sort of record people listen to in damp bedsits with a handy supply of razorblades and Sylvia Plath poems beside them. Singer Tracey Thorn has obviously never recovered from the band's transition from limp, mournful folk couple to limp, mournful dance duo and refuses to change her vocals to adapt in any way whatsoever. Incidentally, have you ever seen either of Everything But The Girl crack even the smallest smile? Just a thought.
