Critical Phase : Phase One (Futureshock Remix)
It's big, borders on clever and, at times, sounds like the music's flowing backwards.
Time for some proper big room podium action. The original mix pitches somewhere between the motorway machine funk of Kraftwerk and the rollercoaster grooves of '80s Austrian weirdos Yello. But the remix by progressive house darlings Futureshock is the one that's sending dancefloors into a drugged-out haze. Fat bass stabs, symphonic synths, massive lighters-in-the-air breakdowns, chunky house riffs... pass the bottle of amyl, please. It's big, borders on clever and, at times, sounds like the music's flowing backwards. The sort of tune for dancefloors where time and space ebbs like the stuff inside a lava lamp. Chemically enhanced or not, here's to the second phase.
