Scanty : Southern Thing (Don't Even Think About It)

The sound of summer on the beach in Brighton, basically...

Scanty (nee Scanty Sandwich) return to the fray with a robust, if unspectacular, slice of loop-y disco house. Hall & Oates provide the sample ('I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)') for about the millionth time in the last three years, but Richard Marshall pivots the whole thing on a pumping digital pulse that smacks of Saturday night.

It's easy to be snotty about this on a windy afternoon in April, but come a sweltering Saturday in August, 'Southern Thing' may well hit the spot. The sound of summer on the beach in Brighton, basically.
