No Doubt : Hella Good

Will [a]No Doubt[/a] take us to funky town? Yes! With Nellee Hooper at the controls and a role-call of inspiration flashes that reads like the Guinness Book Of Hit Singles With The Crap Ones Taken Out: starts off like ‘Billie Jean’, straight into a sort of undulating bass groove right off Irene Cara's 'Fame', then into some of Lipps Inc's electro blips and an astonishing tribute to the entire Prince oeuvre in the middle eight.

Apparently this sort of thing is all very fashionable at the moment, but then so are [a]No Doubt[/a]. It’s hard to imagine this is the same band who gave us the seasonal non-favourite ‘Oi To The World’, but when the tunes are this good, let’s not ask questions.
