Fischerspooner : Emerge

The fact that Casey Spooner resembles an under-rehearsed David Lee Roth cast as the lead in 'Starlight Express' becomes irrelevant (well, sort of) the minute ‘Emerge’ throbs into life. [a]KLF[/a] aside, have the fundamental requirements of chart success ever been so perfectly articulated?

Like all great scamsters, Fischerspooner steal from the black bin-liner of pop culture with both hands. Donna Summer’s disco pulses, A Flock Of Seagulls’ dress sense, Marilyn’s bitchy self-regard, they’re all in there somewhere. Steve Strange is no doubt consulting his lawyers as we speak. Whad-evah. ‘Emerge’ confirms Fischerspooner as the most delirious, unbearable and overbearing thing to hit the pop guest list this century. Rock’s frowning uncles, for once, are clearly on the run.
