Ms Dynamite : Dy-Na-Mi-Tee
Made to shimmer though the beaded curtains of a thousand downtown dives...
As far as blows to credibility go, being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and performing at the Commonwealth Games’ closing ceremony in the space of a week should have left Ms Dynamite’s cool lying in a corporate-sponsored ditch.
It’s fortunate, then, that she’s now releasing ‘Dy-Na-Mi-Tee’, a single that outshines the dreary ‘It Takes More’ like a Rolex in Claire’s Accessories. Made to shimmer though the beaded curtains of a thousand downtown dives, it’s the stuff of girl-group, block-party heaven, the tough glamour and raggedly sweet vocals signposting a future of Diana Ross-style diva demands and 47 husbands. For now, though, Ms D is successfully proving that if it takes more, she’s got more.
