Goldfrapp

A&E

The first single from Goldfrapp’s nervously anticipated ‘Seventh Tree’, gallops into view on not so much a diamanté stallion as a doe-eyed Shetland pony, and it’s just plain lovely. Wipe ‘Strict Machine’ from your memory – Alison’s mewling kitten-like vocals tread softly through the delicate arrangement, which toys with Joni Mitchell-esque folk and employs a more liberal dose of synths. Baby animal references aside though, Goldfrapp has once again reinvented herself and done the seemingly impossible by becoming even more fantasy-fabulous. Bring on the dancing seahorses.
