We’re not the ‘Monster’ band anymore. Our second album will surprise a few people. You’re going to see a darker side to us now. There you go, the next six months of press from The Automatic summed up in three bland statements. Now here’s three to sum up their new single. This is far less hateable than ‘Raoul’. Perhaps that’s because it’s so forgettable. Even taking the piss out of The Automatic is dull these days.

WRONG. I like how only a few lines acutally sum up the single, the rest? Some NME 'Journalist' waffling on as normal. Personally, Great single and the new album WILL suprise people. They've come along way and the addition of Paul Mullen has had such a positive impact. More Depth, better structured songs and more mature. I think people should give it a chance, won't be dissapointed. Don't be put off by some miserable NME writer

While I was never a fan of their first album, at least it got them noticed!! What exactly is this song? Well it's dull and doesn't make them stand out from the crowd any more, so lets say bye to The Automatic.

Its a brilliant single, from a brilliant album, as usual though a poorly written single review from a miserable journalist as Droog85 put.

I never thought the Automatic were any good with their last album, monster just seemed like they were having a laugh. The last album was really bad. This is a proper song though and its one of the best songs this year. Some NME reviewers know fuck all about music as this prooves

haha. Alex Miller got told. I must agree with Droog, I saw their free London show last Tuesday, and they do seem to have growth.

Well what a load bullshit. I personally think some of these NME reviewers have no music taste what so ever. Ok the first album weren't great, but it still had some tunes on it. Personally Steve McQueen is at least a 7 maybe even an 8 out of 10 single, pure sing along chorus. Overall NME, you need to look at what you say, I mean you like Noah And The Whale for fucks sake. Now thats a shit band.

This review stinks. I think that Steve McQueen is a fantastic track and Im looking forward to the Automatic's new album. The reviewer here clearly has no taste in music and I think its about time NME stopped giving special treatment to what I call their "Favourite" bands who receive all good reviews and main headlines each week. Give other bands a chance for once!!!

This single appears much better to me than the whole first album. I hope the band will keep up the good work with "This is a Fix"! By the way, isn't it troubling that lots of NME reviews are heavily criticised by the site's signed up members?

They may not be the coolest band around nor the best but they can consistently create tracks that will get air time and will consistently sell.

"They may not be the coolest band around nor the best but they can consistently create tracks that will get air time and will consistently sell"So basically you are saying that are a) dull b) a bit crap c) they will be played on Radio 1, nestled between Maroon 5 and Celine Dion. For eternity.

Ha ha ha. and how many of these comments do you suppose are in fact not made by genuine punters but by desperate record label goons trying to preserve their precious, and unarguably shite, little band? Or am I wrong and they do actually have seven fans?

Well I LIKED "Raoul" - I thought it had bite, sass and crunch and it made me want to dance. But then it WAS rabid Pennies yapping that made their samey debut album a bit special. Saw them live and they were rather standard - apart from mad Pennie. Still I did want to give them the benefit of the doubt and not write them off after Pennie left. Watched "Steve McQueen" on youtube and switched off after two minutes because i was so bored by its mallternative adult rock. Still I'll give the new album a listen. I don't expect much now, but I hope this band can convince me otherwise.

I'm sorry but I don't agree with anything which is written here - I love the automatic, I love raoul, and I quite like this one - sure, it isn't particularly stand outish and ir wasn't a great tune to come back with but it's got some nice principles - the "chasing my tail" and such. The lyrics are also quite interesting, so yeah, at least a 7/10 from me.
