Kid Harpoon

The First EP

If you’re one of the not-inconsiderable constituency of people who can’t look at Jack Peñate without doing a very silly dance, you might want to avoid Kid Harpoon. Coming on like Dexys Midnight Runners, only with their urgent passions replaced by a faintly idiotic whimsy, ‘The Milkmaid’ is a galloping, violin-strewn tale of a young lass who wants to become a famous actress, or something. It romps along with such unquenchable gumption that you find yourself quietly wishing it would perhaps trip on the curb it skips up and faceplant on to the pavement.

I can't begin to tell you how amazing this EP is. Kid Harpoon with the Powers That Be finally on a proper recording. The amazing song 'The Milkmaid' opens the EP with the introduction of a fiddle played by Jonnie Fielding (Note To Self). The EP then moves on to '57', a great song to sing and dance to. Things slow down as 'As it always was' comes onto the player. Then a classic Kid Harps song in the form of 'Aeroplanes and Neon Lights'. Then the superbly produced 'Small Town War' and finally finished with 'The Water (demo)' but don't be fooled just because it's a demo this is a beautiful song. Definately check Kid Harpoon out...
