The Maccabees

After some tantalising YouTube studio updates before Christmas, our first taste of the new Maccabees album has made us slaver so much we’ve had to raze half the New Forest to sawdust the office floor. It’s been too long since our last ‘Toothpaste Kisses’, and now, our wistful art-pop boys have returned to us as glowering, overcoat-wearing men, all repressed rage and early Cure/Gang Of Four sounds. No longer playfully puppyish, they’re brooding and feverishly jerky with spidery, edgy guitars that needle like a guilty memory. White Lies, watch your black-clad backs.
