Maljube

What is a Malajube? The band have mischievously told gullible journalists it’s a (made-up) frog disease, while our friend reckons it could mean ‘rotten fruit’ in French. All we can say for sure is that Malajube are five hairy dudes from Montreal who make an exalted racket like Broken Social Scene at their poppiest, or Super Furry Animals at their most raucous. Shapeshifting songs reveal latent prog tendencies, but Malajube play with an infectious joie de vivre rather than a muso sneer. The best Francophone Canadian outfit since Celine Dion. OK, ever.
