Extreme and malevolent, an album not for the fainthearted.
Listening to Divorce’s self-titled debut is a lot like thumbing through a book of war atrocities: “How are humans capable of this?” you wonder, outraged and disgusted, while compulsively reading on anyway. Since they first came onto our radar in 2009, these Glaswegian no-wavers have only gotten more extreme and malevolent, culminating in an album that is not for the fainthearted. Splenetic frontwoman Jennie Fulk is a demonic and disturbing presence on ‘Bill Murray’ and ‘Aids Of Space’ but the pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the atonal sax solo on ‘Stabby (Stabby) Stab’. Your nightmares will never be the same.
