In the body of 21st-century music this is the life-giving grub incumbent in the colon, it gobbles away on synthetic sounds, Faltermeyer-ish disco samples, snatches of Monty Python dialogue, melding together great thunderous rumblefests (‘Analog Wormz Sequel’), low sonic burbs, deliciously phat squelchyness (‘Monophonic Shit’), panicky squeaks and top-hole scratching (‘No Day Massacre’/‘Last Night A DJ Killed My Dog’); it’s the fizz and parp of techno quackery at its finest and funniest and gives emetic relief to (post)rock’s miserabilist stuck-up arse.
Of course the mighty Mouse On Mars have been wryly playing the synth-aided buffoon for some years now, but nothing compares to this for sheer inducement to make with the funky chicken-wing arms and the butt-wobble strut.
