Oppenheimer

It’s not quite a cameo of Diddy, Kanye or er… Burgess proportions, but Tim Wheeler’s brief appearance here is worth a mention, namely because it does its best to fudge things up for this married Belfast duo. Before the rather turgid ‘Orchid’, featuring said Ash frontman’s give-a-hoot vocals and falling guitar scales, Oppenheimer’s self-titled debut was going rather well. Fizzing along like a sherbert flying saucer, scanning planet Haribo, electro-pop rainbow drops like ‘This Is Not A Test’ and ‘When I Close My Eyes I Fall In Love’ might struggle to become your confectionary of choice this summer, but don’t be surprised if their easily gorged processed beats and hovering sweet melodies win you over like a limited-edition Marmite-flavoured KitKat.
