The Revenant: Behind The Scenes Of The Oscar-Tipped Epic

This could be the year. It really could be the year Leonardo DiCaprio wins the Academy Award for Best Actor, the prize that has eluded him 3 times prior. In his latest bid for the coveted golden statue, Leo provides his most intense and gruelling performance to date in The Revenant. The film is semi-based on the true story of Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) who was mauled by a bear and left for dead by his comrades in 1800 Mid-West America, and seeks revenge on John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy), the man who consigned him to death.

The film is a gritty portrayal of Glass’ attempt to reunite with his group and features the wounded soldier crawl through mountains of snow, self-medicate his broken body and even eat a raw bison liver. Praise has also been been heaped on Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu and his production team for crafting one of the most jaw-dropping and visually stunning films of the year.

The dizzying camera style, stunning scenery and attention to production design have film buffs and critics gushing and the entire crew are hotly-tipped to pick up gongs through the Awards season.
