Body Language: Vol 4

For the last 10 years, the prospect of listening to house music all night long sounded more like a threat than a promise. But, in the hothouse atmosphere of modern-day Berlin, anything is possible. Techno has reinvented itself as avant-garde funk, house music is returning to its moody, electronic roots, and Steffen ‘Dixon’ Berkhahn – DJ, producer and Innervisions label-owner – is creating sublime mixes. These mash-ups knit together Thom Yorke’s ‘The Eraser’, ice-cool vocal tracks from house music stalwarts such as Tracey Thorn and acid-house original Larry Heard, leftfield disco-punk and the manic brass parpings of Herbert’s ‘Moving Like A Train’. Dixon wanted to produce a soulful, atmospheric set that didn’t fall back on the “clichés of wailing divas”. Calling all Hot Chip, Klaxons and LCD fans: you will love this.
