This new film about Oasis’s glory years is rousing, heart-rending and really f**king funny
Shawn Lee Kill Somebody(Amour)
Once upon a time there was a band called S*M*A*S*H who were part of the appallingly badly named New Wave Of New Wave and very cool people who took cocaine thought they were frightfully uncool and stank. However they had this song called '(I Want To) Kill Somebody' which was all about murdering members of the then current Conservative government, many of whom were namechecked in the lyrics.
And the curious thing is that cool people who took cocaine and thought S*MA*S*H stank would sit around all evening sneering and sipping absinthe but when the band played '...Kill Somebody' they'd all leap to their feet and start punching the walls and screaming and elbowing their own heads in righteous euphoria. You see, we all hated Tories in them days and that song was sort of the zeitgeist.
So we picked this out in the hope that it might be a cover version. It's not. It's a vehicle for the singer-songwriter talents of Shawn Taylor who appears to believe that he is David Bowie. Shawn, mate, you're not. David Bowie is. Stop this.
