Happy Mondays : The Boys Are Back In Town

This sounds like one of those major label crossover bands who would put lots of scratching and sampling in the first 20 seconds going, 'Check this out' and then crash into some wah-wah-drenched non-song like Rockschool playing the hits of EMF.

There was always a thin line between genius and abomination with
the
Mondays. They always made anti-tunes, somewhere beyond the realms of conventional melodies, riffs or singing. But this is a flailing, half-arsed dog's breakfast, Shaun's autopilot vocals clipping the treetops of his own boredom threshold, as if on the 53rd take when he finally had to remember the words. The preponderance of Rowetta's backing vocals is a cosmetic touch-up of a pointless exercise. And for all you can hear of him, Bez needn't have bothered turning up.
