Hives : Hate To Say I Told You So

...would you believe it, yet another fired up beast of a single...

Another week, another super-stylised axe-friendly future of rock; and, would you believe it, yet another fired up beast of a single. You’ll know this already - it’s the one that’s been following us around like a good smell for the past few months, and with the wind behind it ‘Hate To Say I Told You So’ might not quite go Top Ten but could at least be challenging Victoria Beckham this week.

An intro that dry ice and huge flashing lights were invented for, a bit in the middle that sounds like primetime Iggy And The Stooges, and an outro that hurls itself into a blaze of feedback, as these things tend to… Then it’s over. And you flick a button on your CD player and it starts all over again. Neat, huh? Just one problem: why have indie bands started looking like they realise they’re popstars? What has happened to our indie?
