They say age enfashions the geek (well, I said it, just then), and so it is with Ben ‘Used To Be A Bit Supertramp’ Folds, whose plaintive piano plonkings have become ever more staggeringly lip-trembly since he cast off the youthful Victoria Wood-isms of the Five and became the thinking Elton fan’s new bit of crumpet.
‘Landed’ is typical of his current state of mournful magnificence: the gently weeping baby grand from ‘Hey Jude’ comforts our Ben over a trashed affair before suddenly blasting him off into the Great Thumpy Pop Beyond.
