How We Are EP

Another startlingly young band for whom we can reliably place Year Zero as being the release of ‘Is This It’. But, from its opening whirl of shimmering, oceanic guitars, ‘How Are You’ transcends the occasion of its genesis (fun stuff to do before A-Levels come along). Vocalist Jack Steadman inserts quivers and trembles into his bittersweet narratives, life tales that balance teenage angst with a streak of world weariness. “She seemed like an alright girl/And I was thinking, ‘Just one night won’t hurt’”, he sings, “I remember saying to her/I don’t want to get much older”. Somewhere, Peter Pan is checking in the mirror for crow’s feet.
