British Sea Power

Waving Flags

British Sea Power
Despite having a name that seems to hark back to a time when Britannia ruled the waves, British Sea Power are no jingoists. The Brighton quartet’s appealing answer to global unity is for everyone to sit down and share a few tankards of hard-to-pronounce Eastern European lager together, by which point all national differences melt away in one hazy Arcade Fire-style reverie. The only thing British Sea Power have failed to bring to the table is a big wassailable refrain, but when their good cheer flows so freely you’d be a spoilsport to go back and ask for a top-up.
