Comeback Kid: Broadcasting

Hardcore band lose singer – no one notices

Comeback Kid: Broadcasting

7 / 10 Gang vocals are that wacky thing you find on hardcore albums – a leftover from the genre’s live roots, where it sounds like a singalong in a prison shower. Winnipeg’s CK are massive fans, breaking them out at every opportunity. It’s their first release since the departure of original vocalist Scott Wade, so the question is, can you tell the difference? Course not. Trying to differentiate between hardcore vocalists is like identifying whale-song. Still, ‘Broadcasting’ is a rousing listen – much as you would expect from the ‘uplifting’ micro-genre of posi-core (positive hardcore, for the uninitiated). Honest and furious, it’s hardly great art, but it might keep a few kids out of jail.
