Textbooks out: the world’s gloomiest physics teacher is back and ready
to regale us with another of his mortality-based questions. “If a plane were to fall from the sky/How big a hole would it leave in the surface of the Earth?” Cripes. Whimper. I think I’ve just bust my nib, sir. Tune in next week when Mr Smith will be asking, “If a train is travelling at 200mph and collides with a sackful of orphans, what’s the post-collision velocity?” We’ve not got enough fingers for that one (neither do the orphans) but can calculate that this is another magnificently OTT slice of Editors bombast.
