Elbow : New born EP

Imagine Belle & Sebastian if they weren't, you know, utter twats...

"I'll be the corpse in your bathtub", promise this Bury quintet on 'Newborn', a lightly strummed trifle whose lyrical edge belies a tune which could easily have been penned by some soulless pop-lite androids like Savage Garden. Fortunately, the other three tracks here hint at much weirder scenarios behind the white picket fence, from the sampled nutter rant of 'Kisses' to the ragged Jeff Buckley-esque spirals of 'Bitten By The Tail Fly' and on into the spectral piano elegy of 'None One'. Imagine Belle & Sebastian if they weren't, you know, utter twats.
