Eve featuring Alicia Keys : Gangsta Lovin'
Not quite the all-star emoting-and-dissing showdown it promises to be
Not quite the all-star emoting-and-dissing showdown it promises to be, since 'Gangsta Lovin'' is actually dominated by hip-hop's most ruthlessly commercial producer right now, Irv Gotti. As usual, Gotti glosses up some old Dre beats, then reduces Keys to bit part harmonies bland enough to have been contributed by his own protegee, the infinitely less interesting Ashanti. EVE, meanwhile, seems unusually bored as she raps about dating technique and nice clothes. A good time, then, to forget all about this nonsense and serve you advance warning of the astounding Missy Elliott single, 'Work It', that features her rapping backwards alongside some judiciously placed elephants. Best save your hip-hop/R&B buck for that one.
