The Air We Breathe

Copenhagen’s Figurines rustle the choirboy’s ruffle with this minor key plea to the world to give a little bit of goddamn tenderness. B-side to ‘Hey Girl’, it’s Ryan Adams at his most yearning and The Cinematic Orchestra at their most, er, cinematic. The most devastating part is the lip-quivering harmony where Christian, Claus and Mads ‘do’ The Beach Boys with pitch-perfect accuracy. It’s like Dennis, Carl and Brian Wilson singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Daddy Wilson before his paternal wrath got the better of him and he smacked them up with a copy of National Geographic. Beautiful.

Nice track. But Figurines are not from Copenhagen, they are from Aalborg, another of Denmark's big cities
