Gerling : Enter Space Capsule
Like Kraftwerk playing Ibiza or a laid-back, hippy Daft Punk, there's a certain charming naivety about [B]Gerling...
Australian school leavers Gerling tread that precarious line between sparky, twisted originality and the sort of irritating kookiness that made you want to smack Bis in the mouth. Early signs are promising, though, as this breezy, largely instrumental single remix (sparkier than the straight version on the band's album) suggests they're only just showing what they can do. Like Kraftwerk playing Ibiza or a laid-back, hippy Daft Punk, there's a certain charming naivety about Gerling's simple clutch of vocal samples and trance-like piano lines that are perfect for comedown dancing. Approved, then, but cautiously.
