Over the past six months, industry gossip has it that Girl Thing are
the "new Spice Girls" - like we need one. Thankfully, on this showing, far from being the new Spices, it's plain that Girl Thing
are little more than the female Five - all Butlin's Redcoats choruses and unfeasibly bad rapping. Do record companies really think that people are stupid enough to buy into this? We'll see.
While the Spices' breakthrough 'Wannabe' was annoying yet cheeky, this is just plain annoying and about as 'poptastic' as a weekend spent in a disused coalmine with only the corpse of Dame Barbara Cartland for company. Expect to see this lot pouring out of Sugar Reef and
the Met Bar over the next 12 months, arm in arm with Rio Ferdinand and Goldie, laughing it up. They'll have just come from playing at GAY, second on the
bill to Adam Rickitt - if there's
any justice.
