It was Elliott Smith who first gave Shon Sullivan his ‘Goldenboy’ nickname. So now that Smith is smiling down from heaven, he’s no doubt ecstatic that his former touring mate has used that name to make a second album of relatively inoffensive MOR indie that merges Elliott’s fragile falsetto and the college rock breeziness of the Eels.
