“No matter what pills I take/It don’t make me laugh/It doesn’t suit my face!” growls solipsistic lead Haunt Kevin Banks. Blimey, remind me to avoid him at the aftershow. But what a tune! More wired than Marco Pierre White after a three-week speed jag, ‘Low Slung City Skyline’ suggests this bunch of north London noiseniks know their King Crimson from their Queens Of The Stone Age. It’s a white-knuckle pop-metal thrash which will appeal to anyone who’d rather watch a documentary on BBC4 about Jack Kerouac than go and see recently-departed Automatic keyboard-thrasher Pennie DJ.
