Ian Brown

Sister Rose

Ian Brown
Fresh from cooking up his latest absurd conspiracy theory – the moon, right, is a round piece of tin foil the CIA use to keep their crack cocaine in – King Monkey returns with a couple of Sex Pistols in tow. If anything, it’s testament to Ian Brown’s skill at being Ian Brown that, even with figures as iconic as Steve Jones playing guitar and Paul Cook beating the skins, it still sounds like Ian Brown always sounds. Which is: wicky-wicky funk guitar, pseudo-mystical lyrics about ancient prophecies, a bit of bendy violin like in The Beatles’ ‘I Am The Walrus’, and beats plotted by mapping a chimp’s gait on to a drum machine.
