Kings Of Convenience : Failure
It's the Kings' simplicity that makes them worth cherishing.
In a world where Belle & Sebastian can win a Brit, it hardly seems fair that Norway's (far superior) Kings Of Convenience still languish in relative obscurity. Mind you, general apathy somehow suits the Kings' sweet, doleful take on life, where they never get the girl, always miss their big moment and note wisely that "failure is always the best way to learn". The daydreaming that keeps them busy though is played out to perfection here, all soothing brass, muted guitars and gentleness at every turn. At a time when everyone tries so hard to impress, it's the Kings' simplicity that makes them worth cherishing.
