Les Savy Fav

Patty Lee

LSF know a thing or five about how to fuck about with the basics of the pop song. And praise be: ‘Patty Lee’ is the one from ‘Let’s Stay Friends’ that sounds like Prince rimming the Pixies. It’s all stop-start rhythms, a guitar siren so shrill and piercing it could skewer the stomach of a donkey and, like the best Les Savy Fav songs – nay, like the best music – it could give any passing Jackson a run for their money in the pop sensibility stakes while still sounding utterly certifiable. Don’t bet on Tim Harrington getting a self-help column in a broadsheet newspaper anytime soon though.
