Galaxy Of The Lost

If only we could all turn our ‘Please dear God make the ground open up and swallow me whole’ moments, such as throwing up in a girl’s mouth, into urban country-pop gold. But that privilege is reserved for one man. While Dev’s ill in bed, we’re treated to a second helping of this tension-fuelled lyrical drama worthy of Morrissey, crammed with serenading guitar, piano and strings, Emmy The Great sweetly spooning him vocally and melancholy so morose it’s nonchalant. The talent is tangible in every line, and this one song proves Lightspeed Champion is already the man of 2008.
