Album review: Mariah Carey - 'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel'

The queen of sugared pop offers much of the same

Album review: Mariah Carey - 'Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel'

5 / 10 We learn a lot from the mini Elle[i] magazine included with Mariah Carey’s new album. It’s packed full of insights on the pneumatic-breasted Grammy magnet. She wears pink velour tracksuits round the house and thigh-high Stella McCartneys on the town. Her Elizabeth Arden fragrance has top notes of dewy green apple. [i]Elf is one of her top five favourite films, and she never leaves the house without her personal copy of the Bible. She cherishes her fans. The album itself revelas she’s also got a penchant for exhuming the sickly-sweet memory of Minnie Riperton’s ‘Loving You’ and setting it to 17 different slow jamz drenched in studio gloss.

"Mariah Carey's Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is a little gloopy but surprisingly restrained."
