"Shout it out, I am Miss Black America!" screams MBA front man Seymour Glass like a man who wouldn’t know cynicism if it hit him in the knackers. Refreshingly naive enough to think loud guitars, crude but effective sloganeering and a cracking little pop song could kick start a revolution; Miss Black America could just be your new favourite band.
Doubters will say that it sounds a little bit like foppish Britpop barrel scrapers Strangelove, and in fairness they’d be right, but look beyond that and you’ll see the kind of articulate fiery rage that doesn’t come around too often. Viva la revolution then, and all that gubbins.
