Ms Dynamite : Put Him Out

Guitars are back! And not only in the employ of hairy kiwis with beer-soaked trousers, either. Just listen to the new single from Niomi McLean-Daley, or Miss Dy-na-mite-hee-eee as she's known round these parts.

Along with violins that sound like they belong in the background in the Italian restaurant from 'The League Of Gentlemen', the chorus of 'Put Him Out' - an 'I Will Survive' for the 'Grand Theft Auto' generation, basically - is smothered in six-strings. They're of the ugly '80s Hispanic metal variety, admittedly, but they're still guitars and this time the Mercury Music Prize panel had to listen to them. Hurrah. Think of it as another victory for the avalanching New Rock Revolution.
