One Night Only

Started A Fire

Far be it from us to patronise the young, but when your singer started in your band at 12, your nearest big city is York and you’re being played by Steve Lamacq before you’re old enough to drink, you have to wonder whether you’ve enough life experience. Thankfully, One Night Only have the sense to write about what they know. Trouble is, on too many tracks, especially ‘It’s Alright’, there’s a striving for the transcendent, tacked oddly on to the sort of everyday teenage drama that Arctic Monkeys tackle with more wit and precision. While there’s no knocking their musical chops there’s little individual voice. On ‘Just For Tonight’ the influence of labelmates The Killers is strong in the widescreen synths and smart-mouthed heartache while George Craig’s voice recalls Luke Kook. They may find their own sound; if not, that name might prove spookily accurate.

I saw these at Audio Brighton on Thursday night - AMAZING they was.
Oh, and I really liked Nick Harrison, the support act, he should get a good record deal from that.

I'm not the biggest fan really, non of the tracks jump out at you as beging anything but average. About 3 decent tracks in the album!

As it stands...lets hope it is one night only.... I'm not against teen drama on the airwaves.... Poppy and the jezebels really float my old boat.... but this stuff???
MTV2...tend to disagree.... Anyway you pay your money...or download for free.....

What the Hell? i disagree with the review..Their Album is amazing and the lyrics are also pretty amazing. George Craigs voice is also far better than any other voices that i have heard in bands lately, especially as some of them all sound the same, i guess everyone is titled to their own opinion and i doubt it will be a one night only, fair play to them (Y)

one night only isn't the most unique band around but this album is pretty good! george craig has a nice voice and some of the tracks are really nice. my review would probably be a 7.5/10

Unique? am i reading the same review, one night only are yet another stereotypical indie band that offer nothing new on the plate. This album is below par.
