Operator Please

Get What You Want

Operator Please are cute like Cabbage Patch Kids and come from a place called the Gold Coast, which is actually in Australia but sounds like the sort of place the Care Bears might take their holidays. An impression that, unfortunately, goes absolutely no way at all to preparing you for ‘Get What You Want’, a sliver of edgy, arch paranoia-pop with squalling violins, a big jagged chorus and a frankly quite bizarre vocal performance from Amandah, who screams “Yeah let’s be vulgar: INTERNET SEX! NAKED COMPUTERS!” like a little kid who’s just been taught her first swear word.

They are Australia's Be Your Own Pet, and likewise are awesome.Typical line up of bass, guitar and drums, but mixed in with keyboard and an erm...violin, makes for great things, and 'Get What You Want' is a great thing. Amandah's voice is so different and unique it adds that extra something to an already brilliant tune. One thing's for sure...Operator Please are going to be a memorable young band of 2008.
