The Magic Position

Fond, as he is, of the occasional Smirnoff Ice, you somehow fear for Patrick Wolf’s chances should he venture into any city centre bar come happy hour. Such frustration infuses ‘The Magic Position’, a giddy Motown stomp clearly intended as his own ‘Come On Eileen’. It isn’t, but it’s a sign the world may soon fall under the spell of his Pan’s Labyrinth-inspired alcopop.
