PJ Harvey : This Is Love/You Said Something
'This Is Love' and 'You Said Something' find the normally frosty lady in the mood for love, her West Country heart melted by the New York City glow.
A most worthy winner of that most worthy of awards, the Mercury Music Prize, the strength in depth of Polly Harvey's excellent 'Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea' album is underlined by the presence of two of its tracks on this, the record's third offering. Exhibiting an emotional intensity and melodic grace rare in today's sterile rock climate, both 'This Is Love' and 'You Said Something' find the normally frosty lady in the mood for love, her West Country heart melted by the New York City glow. That was then, of course. So let's overlook the unfortunate reference to "watching the lights flash in Manhattan" in the latter.
