Prefuse 73

Instrumental hip-hop has always been a queer old fish – is hip-hop really hip-hop without an MC? – but when it’s made by visionaries like Prefuse 73, there’s nowt queer about it. On the Atlanta-raised producer’s fourth album there are soaring cut-up melodies, jazzy head-nodding interludes and effects-laden digital symphonies. Compelling.
