"Now our fans have got a version they can listen to," Travis' Fran Healy announced of his '...Baby One More Time' cover, with the self-belief that can only come from an indie act wrecking one of the most perfectly produced songs of the '90s by making it, like, real. And Lo! What's 'Everybody Knows That'? Er, a Billy Connolly song, apparently. But it's Bontempti'd-up B-side 'Say My Name' - in which Scots Delgado-likes Spare Snare tackle Destiny's Child - that really brings home the bacon. And guess what? No smugness, no "this is for guitar fans with musical tastes too facile to accept anything else" standoffishness. In fact it is, perhaps against the odds, a work of fragile loveliness.
