Soul On Fire

Amy’s nocturnal antics may set tabloid pulses racing, but for Jason Pierce flirting with death is a full-time occupation. Having troubled a life-support machine in 2005, rock’s legendary purveyor of rare herbs and prescribed chemicals provides us with the first glimpse of much anticipated new album ‘Songs In A&E’. And what an introduction. “I’ve got a hurricane inside my veins and I want to take you higher”, croons Señor Spaceman as an elegiac wash of strings builds to a chorus so life-affirming it’ll make you want to go out and hug the neighbours. Somewhere up in Heaven, St Peter shakes his head. Single of the year to date.
