Yesterday Is Not Tomorrow

Stalkers

6 / 10 Dirty, grotty, grimy – words that get thrown around a lot when it comes to describing garage punk. So just what particular flavour of filth are New York party-punks Stalkers? Well, they’re a bit like finding a £20 note in the street coated in some kind of indeterminable mucus: a mixture of joy and revulsion. ‘Yesterday Is No Tomorrow’ has been out since Spring in America, but seeing as it could have been recorded at any point over the past 30 years, Stalkers clearly aren’t concerned with timeliness. From the Strokes-y romp that is opener ‘Yesterday Is No Tomorrow’ to ‘Let’s Get it Together’, which recalls some of party-monster Andrew WK’s quieter moments, Stalkers feel like three decades worth of New York punk crammed into one band and, as such, this is utterly filthy fun.
