Brilliant, roistering pop...

Taking time out from entering Scrabble competitions (or whatever he does at weekends), Stephen Malkmus returns with the third solo single from his self-titled album. His ruse on 'Jo Jo's Jacket' is pretending to be Yul Brynner, for reasons inaccessible to our tiny plebeian minds. But who cares? This is brilliant, roistering pop that's too urbane to stand up straight and take itself seriously. Fun, but in a good way.
