Sugababes : Soul Sound

Forty-third single from the notoriously unsmiling adult-children of UK Ramp;B. Still not a patch on 'Overload', but 'Soul Sound' is pretty good nevertheless: tasteful slippery beats, tasteful acoustic guitars, the usual indolent harmonies. As ever, the best thing about Sugababes is how they sound like they really can't be arsed with anything,
let alone any of this pop star business. 'Soul Sound' begins with one of them deciding,
"I touch the sky" with all the bracing joie de vivre of a woman mired in GCSE revision. Enough with the dance routines and shit-eating grins - does this mean total lack of enthusiasm's the way forward for teen pop?
