Lush harmonies and warm, fuzzy guitars aside, ‘The Gift That Keeps Giving’, the Super Furries’ free-to-fans Christmas Day download pressie, ain’t one of their best. We know SFA can do stoned drones with the best of them, but simply jazzing up their standard wobbly, spaced-out rock template with some semi-festive lyrics and a bit of trumpet tootling, isn’t going to wash with us, matey boys. Come on Gruff, why didn’t you get us the chocolates and bottle of Chanel No 5 like we asked for? Let’s see if they gave us a receipt so we can swap it for something better…
